The result of the public consultation carried out by the Ministry of Health on vaccination against covid-19 in children aged 5 to 11 years showed that the majority has expressed against the need for a medical prescription for vaccination and did not agree with the mandatory vaccination for this age group.
The public consultation, which lasted 11 days, discussed the inclusion of children in the National Plan for the Operationalization of Vaccination against Covid-19.
“99,309 people participated in the public consultation. Most of them have agreed with the non-compulsory nature of vaccination and the prioritization of children with comorbidities. The majority was against a mandatory medical prescription for vaccination”, reported Ministry of Health Secretary for Combating Covid-19 Rosane Leite de Melo.
The ministry has taken a stand in favor of vaccinating children from 5 to 11 years of age upon presentation of a medical prescription and parental consent. However, it was awaiting the result of the public consultation to take an official positioning, which shall be announced on Wednesday (Dec. 5).
