Brazil’s Christian Democracy party (DC) has announced José Maria Eymael as its presidential candidate. This is his first time running for the post. The party’s national convention was held at the Legislative Assembly of São Paulo state Tuesday (Aug 2).

“We will lead our country where it deserves to be, in the service of the families of Brazil. The main commitment of Christian Democracy is a commitment to family values. All of us Christian Democrats have this as our commitment—to look after Brazilians, to take care of Brazilians, to take care of each other. This is what the nation expects from the next president,” he said.

The ticket’s running mate should be unveiled in the coming days.
