Brazil posts 1.01% inflation in February

Brazil’s National Broad Consumer Price Index (IPCA), which gauges the country’s official inflation, saw a 1.01 percent price rise in February this year. The rate is higher than those in January this year (0.54%) and February last year (0.86%), and the highest for February since 2015 (1.25%).

The data were released today (Mar. 11) by Brazil’s official statistics agency IBGE.

The result brings the IPCA up 1.56 percent in the first two months of the year. Over 12 months, the IPCA surged 10.54 percent.

In February, the main drivers were education (5.61%) and food and beverages (1.28%).
