Brazil registers deflation of 0.29% in September
Brazil´s Broad Consumer Price Index (IPCA), which gauges the country’s official inflation, registered a deflation of 0.29 percent in September this year. This was the third consecutive month of a price drop, and the lowest variation for the month of September since the beginning of this time series, in 1980.
The price decline was less pronounced than those observed in August (-0.36%) and July (-0.68%). The figures were released today (Oct 11) by official statistics institute IBGE.
Year to date, the official inflation stands at 4.09 percent, and 7.17 percent in 12 months.
