Brazilian Caio Souza on Sunday (Sep 25) won the gold medal on the parallel bars in the Paris stage of the Artistic Gymnastics World Cup, at the Bercy Arena, the facility expected to host the gymnastics events in the 2024 Olympic Games.

Besides the gold medal on the parallel bars, which he clinched with a 14,700 score, the athlete bagged silver on the vault with 14,575 points. In this event, he was second only to Turkey’s Adem Asil.

“These results show that my work is being done, and correctly so! Now it’s time to go home and settle the details so I can climb one more notch,” said Caio Souza.

Another shining star was Olympic and world champion Rebeca Andrade, who won silver on the uneven bars.

“I see the course of our participation in this competition very positively. In some apparatuses with around 50 gymnasts competing, our boys qualified atop the ranking. We had two finalists on the vault and one each on the floor, the rings, the horizontal bar, and the parallel bars. This shows that our gymnasts are among the best in the world. Now we have to go back to Brazil and think about how we can improve ahead of the world championship,” said Marcos Goto, coordinator of the men’s artistic gymnastics with the Brazilian Gymnastics Confederation.
