Brazil’s opponent in the quarterfinals of the AmeriCup—the Americas Basketball Championship—has been defined. To be played at Geraldão arena, in Recife city, the next challenge for the team led by coach Gustavo de Conti will be the Dominican Republic, which lost 90–78 against Argentina in the last group stage match.

The Brazilians are reaching the knockout stage at a great time, with 100% record after defeating Uruguay 76–66 last Monday (Sep 5).

A significant advantage on the Brazilians’ side, said winger Léo Meindl, is to be able to rely on the support of their fans, as was the case against the Uruguayans: “The support from the fans was strong and we’re sure we’ll do better next time. It’ll come as a boost, because we’re entering with our classification secured, and that helps keep out feet on the floor.”

Brazil and the Dominican Republic should clash today (8), starting 8:10 pm Brasília time.
