COVID-19: Brazil has 830 deaths, 27,783 cases in 24h

Brazil reached 524,417 deaths from COVID-19, after 830 fatalities were registered from Saturday to Sunday. Altogether, 18,769,808 cases have been confirmed in the country. On the weekend alone, 27,783 new cases were registered. The number of recovered patients now stands at 17,082,876.

The figures can be found in the daily report, released by the Health Ministry on Sunday (Jul. 4). The document combines data on cases and deaths collected by state health secretariats.

The ranking of Brazilian states with the highest death tolls for COVID-19 is headed by São Paulo (129,609), Rio de Janeiro (56,031), and Minas Gerais (47,079). Those with the lowest number of fatalities are Acre (1,752), Roraima (1,756), and Amapá (1,845).

As for confirmed cases, São Paulo also ranks first, with 3.7 million cases. Next come Minas Gerais, with 1.8 million, and Paraná, with 1.3 million. The state with the lowest case tally is Acre, with 85.8 thousand, followed by Roraima (113.4 thousand) and Amapá (117.7 thousand).

Vaccination

Thus far, 143.2 million doses of the vaccine against COVID-19 have been distributed to states and municipalities. Of these, 104.9 million have been administered—77.5 million of which as the first dose, 27.4 million as the second.
