COVID-19: Brazil reports 2k new deaths, 65.1k new diagnoses

The update published by Brazil’s Ministry of Health on the pandemic shows 2,029 fatalities registered in 24 hours, bringing the country’s total death toll to 520,095.

The number of cases of COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic has reached 18,622,304. Health authorities reported 65,163 new cases of COVID-19 in 24 hours.

Recovered patients now add up to 16,931,272, or 90.9 percent of the total amount of infected. There were 1,170,937 cases being monitored. These are people whose health condition is observed by health teams, as it can evolve into different states, including severe.

The document was published early on Thursday evening (Jul. 1), combining figures collected by state health secretariats.

States

Atop the list of Brazilian states with the highest death toll for COVID-19 stand São Paulo (128,322), Rio de Janeiro (55,703), and Minas Gerais (46,459). Those with the lowest amount of fatalities are Acre (1,741), Roraima (1,747), and Amapá (1,838).

Vaccination

Thus far, 135 million doses have been distributed across states, with 102.2 million doses administered—74.9 million as the first dose, 27.3 million as the second or single dose, as is the case with the Janssen vaccine.
