COVID-19: Brazil reports 43 thousand cases, 2 thousand deaths in 24h

In 24 hours, Brazil registered 43,836 new cases of COVID-19 and 2,081 deaths, according to the epidemiological report released by the country’s Health Ministry. Since the beginning of the pandemic, Brazil has reported 18,557,141 cases of the disease and 518,066 deaths.

Patients recovered from COVID-19 now total 16,858,632, and the number of active cases being monitored stands at 1,180,443.

São Paulo is the Brazilian state with the highest number of cases and fatalities—3,727,348 and 128,681, respectively. The lowest amount of cases is observed in Acre (85,566), the state in the Amazon region which also has the lowest death count (1,738).
