COVID-19: Brazil reports over 54 thousand new cases, 1,351 deaths

The COVID-19 pandemic in Brazil has been responsible for 236,201 deaths, with 1,351 new deaths reported in 24 hours, as per the epidemiological report published on Thursday evening (Feb. 11) by the country’s Health Ministry.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 9,713,909 Brazilians have been diagnosed with the disease, after the 54,742 new cases since the previous report were added. The cure rate holds steady at 89 percent—or 8.6 million patients. Also according to the document, 2,822 fatalities are yet to have their cause established.

São Paulo still stands atop the list in number of both cases and deaths. The state has confirmed a total of 1,889,969 cases and 55,742 fatalities. Minas Gerais and Bahia come next, with 793,157 cases and 16,405 deaths, and 620,042 cases and 10,543 deaths, respectively.

Only two states have confirmed fewer than a thousand deaths thus far: Acre (907), and Roraima (937).
