Brazil has 209.9 thousand deaths, 8.48 mi cases of COVID-19
Brazil’s health authorities notified 551 new deaths from COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, adding up to a total of 209,847, as per the report from the country’s Health Ministry published Sunday (Jan. 17).
Also according to the update, total COVID-19 cases amount to 8,488,809, after the 33,040 new positive diagnoses were added from Saturday to Sunday. In all, 7,411,654 have recovered from the disease. There are also 866,598 patients being monitored.
COVID-19 across the states
The states with the highest death tolls are São Paulo (49,945), Rio de Janeiro (27,791), Minas Gerais (13,465), Ceará (10,223), and Pernambuco (10,020).
Those with the lowest death counts are Roraima (811), Acre (836), Amapá (996), Tocantins (1,313), and Rondônia (2,005).
