Brazil has 20 thousand new cases of COVID-19

The report published Monday by Brazil’s Health Ministry confirmed 20,006 people with COVID-19 in 24 hours. In the same period, 543 new deaths were reported.

The total number of people infected since the beginning of the pandemic has reached 7,753,752, whereas 196,561 people died as a result of complications arising from the disease. The data also reveal that 6,813,008 patients have recovered from COVID-19.

The figures combine the data submitted by state health secretariat throughout the country.

COVID-19 across the states

São Paulo’s case tally now stands at 1,473,670. The other states with the highest case counts are Minas Gerais (552,104) and Santa Catarina (498,910). Acre has the lowest number of cases (42,117), followed by Amapá (68,775) and Roraima (68,947).

São Paulo also ranks first in number of deaths, with 46,888. Rio de Janeiro (25,617) and Minas Gerais (12,063) come up next. The states with the lowest amount of fatalities are Roraima (787), Acre (806), and Amapá (936).
