Brazil’s COVID-19 case count rises to 6.86 mi, deaths total 165,700

The figures updated by Brazil’s Health Ministry show that the country’s COVID-19 case tally has reached 5,863,093—14,134 of which confirmed in 24 hours. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 165,798 people have died due to COVID-19 countrywide. Altogether, 379 deaths were computed from previous days.

The data were sent in by municipal and state health secretariats and compiled by ministry at 7 pm Sunday (Nov. 15). They show that 5,303,114 people have been cured from the disease.

Also reported are 2,388 deaths under investigation—a figure that refers to November 12, which had not been appropriately registered due to a computer instability issue.

COVID-19 across the states

According to the Health Ministry, COVID-19 is to be found in 99.9 percent of the 5,570 Brazilian municipalities. However, more than half of them (3,447) have 2–100 cases.

As for deaths, 4,700 municipalities have had fatal cases reported (84.4%), 650 of which only once.
