COVID-19: Brazil case tally rises to 5.61 million

Since the beginning of the pandemic of the novel coronavirus, Brazil has reported 161,736 deaths, the 630 new fatal cases notified from Wednesday to Thursday included. There are also 2,295 deaths under investigation.

The figures can be found in the daily report released by the country’s Health Ministry on Thursday evening (Nov. 5). The update includes data on deaths and cases surveyed by state health secretariats across the country.

The number of people infected with the new coronavirus since the beginning of the pandemic has reached 5,612,319, after the new 22,294 positive diagnoses for the disease were added.

COVID-19 across the states

The states with the highest death tolls are São Paulo (39,717), Rio de Janeiro (20,849), Ceará (9,386), Minas Gerais (9,128), and Pernambuco (8,687). Those with the lowest number of deaths are Roraima (695), Acre (697), Amapá (751), Tocantins (1,108), and Rondônia (1,470).
