Brazil reports 4,544,629 cases of COVID-19

Brazil’s Health Ministry this Sunday (Sep. 20) reported that another 363 people died from COVID-19 in the country in 24 hours, raising the number of people killed by the disease to 136,895.

The lethality rate (deaths by case tally) stands at three percent. The mortality (fatal cases for every 100 thousand people) reached 65.1. The incidence of COVID-19 cases in every 100 thousand people is 2,162.6.

Also according to the data, 16,389 people have been diagnosed with COVID-19 from Saturday to Sunday. The report notifies 4,544,629 cases of contamination, of whom 3,851,227 have recovered—approximately 85 percent of the cases.

The Southeast has seen 1,581 million cases of infection with COVID-19, followed by the Northeast, with 1,272 million. In the North, 600.8 thousand cases have been reported. The South has had 545.2 thousand; the Central-West, 544 thousand.

São Paulo, the country’s most populous state, has had the highest number of infected with the coronavirus. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 935,300 cases have been reported, along with 33,952 deaths.
