Brazil reports 1,100 deaths, 36,600 cases from COVID-19 in 24h

Brazil reported 1,113 deaths and 36,653 new cases linked to the novel coronavirus in 24 hours, as per the daily update released by the Health Ministry on Tuesday evening (Sep. 15).

Since the pandemic started, 133,119 people died due to COVID-19. Another 2,445 deaths are being investigated by health authorities.

Also according to the daily report, the number of people diagnosed with COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic reached 4,382,263. Of the total infected, 3,671,128 have recovered from COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic. This represents 83.8 percent. As it stands today, 578,016 patients are receiving treatment—13.2 percent.

The lethality (number of deaths divided by the total case tally) was reported at three percent. Mortality (deaths for every 100 thousand people) is at 63.3. The incidence—the total of cases for every 100 thousand people—went up to 2,085.3.

COVID-19 across the states

São Paulo is the state with the highest number of deaths (32,963), but has shown lower and lower indicators. For the last five weeks, São Paulo has displayed a reduction in the moving average of cases. The decline has been slow but constant.

Rio de Janeiro has the second highest death toll (17,180), followed by Ceará (8,739), Pernambuco (7,914), and Pará (6,387).

With the lowest number of fatal cases are Roraima (611), Acre (642), Amapá (682), Tocantins (822), and Mato Grosso do Sul (1,106).
