Brazil nears 130 thousand deaths from COVID-19

The updated data from the Health Ministry released Thursday evening (Sep. 10) show there have been 129,522 deaths from COVID-19. In 24 hours, state health authorities reported 983 deaths. There are also 2,501 fatal cases under investigation.

The number of people infected since the beginning of the pandemic stands at 4,238,446. From Wednesday to Thursday, another 40,557 infected were reported. According to the update, 611,587 people are being monitored and 3,497,337 have recovered from COVID-19.

States

The states with the highest death toll are São Paulo (32,104), Rio de Janeiro (16,871), Ceará (8,639), Pernambuco (7,792), and Pará (6,289). Those with the lowest count of fatal cases are Roraima (607), Acre (635), Amapá (676), Tocantins (773), and Mato Grosso do Sul (1.024).

São Paulo also ranks first for number of cases, with 874,754, followed by Bahia (277,327), Minas Gerais (242,533), and Rio de Janeiro (234,813). The smallest amounts of infected have been reported in Acre (635), Amapá (676), Roraima (607), and Mato Grosso do Sul (1.024).
