To clinch the gold medal, the Brazilian athlete beat Iraqi Taha Al-Gburi, Ukrainian Eduard Tropinov, and British Daniel Powell.

Also on Tuesday, Brazil bagged a silver medal with Rebeca Silva in the J2 (low vision) +70 kilos, and a bronze with Alana Maldonado, in the +70 kilos, also J2.

The Brazilian team finished the Alexandria GP in fifth position, having racked up six medals—one gold, one silver, four bronze.

This was the second of four stages of the International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA) international circuit scheduled for 2023. Brazil had previously won the first stage of the 2023 circuit, held in Portugal last month. The other two stages will be in Azerbaijan in September and in Japan in December.
