Paralympic Swimming: Brazil wins three golds in Italy

The Brazilian delegation started Thursday (Mar. 9) the World Series of Paralympic Swimming in Lignano (Italy), reaching good results: three gold and one silver medals. Gabriel Araújo was the star in the S2 class (severe physical-motor impairment). He won two events.

The 20-year-old swimmer secured gold in the 150-meter medley in 3min42s28 and triumphed in the 100-meter freestyle in 1min56s96, setting an Americas’ record.

Brazil’s third gold medal on Thursday was secured by Cecília de Araújo, in the 100-meter freestyle, class S8 (moderate physical-motor impairments), in 1min8s76. The fourth Brazilian medal was a silver one won by João Pedro Brutos in the 100-meter breaststroke, class SB14 (intellectual disability).
