The Attorney General’s Office has demanded that those involved in the acts pay compensation for collective moral damages.

Since President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva was elected in a second round of voting in late October, supporters of former president Jair Bolsonaro have demonstrated their discontent with the outcome of the election and called for a military coup in the country to overthrow the democratically elected government.

The demonstrations included encampments in front of several headquarters in the country and culminated with the invasion and depredation of the headquarters of the three Branches of Power, in Brasilia, on January 8.
