The use of masks in public transportation will be mandatory again starting this Saturday (26th) in the city of São Paulo. The decision was made to prevent the advance of covid-19 cases.

The state government is recommending that the measure be adopted by all municipalities in the state, in addition to alerting the population to complete the vaccination cycle, important to ensure greater protection against the coronavirus and mitigate the effects of covid-19.

To reinforce the measure and make the population aware of the precautions to prevent and fight the dissemination of the coronavirus, the city hall is already distributing masks in the 32 bus terminals in the city. The action will continue next week. So far, more than 350,000 masks have been distributed.

In six of these terminals, vaccination against covid-19 for the population over 3 years old is also taking place. Until Thursday (24), 3,715 doses had been applied in these places.

Hospitalizations

According to a note from the municipal government, hospitalizations for covid-19 in infirmary and ICU beds grew 156% and 97.5% respectively in the last 14 days, reaching a daily average of more than 400 new admissions.

In line with the council, despite the high level in the metropolitan region of São Paulo, there has also been an increase in the interior and coastal regions of the state, including health professionals being taken off work for being infected with covid-19.
