Brazil`s 2021/2022 grain harvest can reach 291 million tons, thanks to the industry’s enthusiasm and the good performance of the Brazilian agricultural sector, Agriculture, Livestock and Supply minister Tereza Cristina says. She was interviewed on Tuesday (Dec. 28) on the EBC radio program Brazil`s Voice.

“There are several aspects that have contributed to an increase of the rural production. So we are expecting to have a record harvest, not only by enlarging the plantation area, but also by increasing production and productivity. That’s a positive estimate,” says she.

According to her, the figures may fluctuate, going a little higher or lower, depending on the rainfall situation in the country. “So far, we have good prospects. We have a bit of drought, but very punctual, in the states of Rio Grande do Sul, Paraná and in my state, Mato Grosso do Sul. In the rest of the country, the situation is very good” stated she.
