In its daily report, Brazil’s Health Ministry disclosed the new data on the COVID-19 pandemic in the country this Monday (Aug. 9): Brazil has reported 20 million confirmed cases of the disease and 563.5 thousand deaths. Recovered cases added up to 18.9 million.
In 24 hours, the ministry registered 12 thousand new cases and 411 deaths.
Of the 27 Brazilian states, São Paulo, the most populous, stands atop the COVID-19 pandemic ranking, with 4.1 million cases and 140 thousand fatalities. Next come Minas Gerais (1.9 million, 51 thousand), Paraná (1.4 million, 35 thousand), and Rio Grande do Sul (1.3 million, 33.5 thousand).
Vaccination
Also according to official figures, 175.2 million vaccine doses against COVID-19 have been delivered. In all, 107 million people have been immunized with the first dose, and 42.9 million received both doses or the only dose.
