COVID-19: Brazil sees 3,829 deaths, 92,625 infected in 24h

Brazil has surpassed 340 thousand COVID-19–related deaths. With 3,829 deaths registered in 24 hours, the country reached 340,776 lives lost to the pandemic of the novel coronavirus, as per the report released Wednesday (Apr. 7) by the Health Ministry.

There are also 3,589 deaths under investigation by health teams, as in some cases the cause of death is determined after a patient dies.

From Tuesday to Wednesday, 92,625 new positive diagnoses were confirmed, raising the total amount of people infected since February 2020 to 13,193,205.

States

The list of Brazilian states with the highest death tolls for COVID-19 is headed by São Paulo (79,443), followed by Rio de Janeiro (38,282), Minas Gerais (25,303), Rio Grande do Sul (21,261), and Paraná (18,118).

Those with the least number of fatalities are Acre (1,318), Amapá (1,356), Roraima (1,367), Tocantins (2,157), and Sergipe (3,668).

Vaccination

By yesterday evening, 43.3 million vaccine doses had been distributed. Of these, 23.5 million have been administered—18.3 million as the first dose, 5.2 million as the second.
