Brazil has had 228,795 deaths from COVID-19

The number of people who succumbed to COVID-19 in Brazil went up to 228,795. In 24 hours, 1,232 deaths were reported. There are also 2,818 deaths under investigation in the country.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, the total number of people infected with the novel coronavirus has reached 9,396,293. In 24 hours, 56,873 new cases were confirmed by health authorities.

The figures can be found in the daily update published by the Health Ministry on Thursday evening (Feb. 4). The report combines data provided by state health secretariats across thec country.

There are 875,735 people with active cases of the disease being monitored by health agents, and 8,291,763 patients have recovered.

States

On the list of Brazilian states with the highest death tolls are São Paulo (53,997), Rio de Janeiro (30,354), Minas Gerais (15,499), Rio Grande do Sul (10,881), and Ceará (10,556). Those with the fewest fatalities are Roraima (880), Acre (882), Amapá (1,070), Tocantins (1,402), and Rondônia (2,314).

In number of cases, São Paulo also ranks first (1,820,941), followed by Minas Gerais (756,971), Bahia (599,435), Santa Catarina (587,428), and Paraná (562,057).
