Brazil reports 1,283 deaths from COVID-19 in 24h

A total of 1,283 deaths from COVID-19 and 63,520 new cases of the disease were reported in Brazil in 24 hours. The figures can be found in the daily report by the Health Ministry published Wednesday (Jan. 27), based on the data submitted by state health secretariats.

The total number of people infected by the novel coronavirus has reached 8,996,876. Of these, 7,877,337 patients have recovered.

On the list of Brazilian states with the highest number of fatalities, São Paulo ranks first (51,170), followed by Rio de Janeiro (29,230) and Minas Gerais (14,544). Those with the lowest death counts are Roraima (837), Acre (858), and Amapá (1,040).

São Paulo also ranks first in the number of cases of COVID-19, with 1,731,294 cases. Next come Minas Gerais (707,649) and Bahia (574,062). The states with the lowest case tallies are Acre (47,119), Roraima (72,921), and Amapá (75,940).
