Brazil’s case tally stands at 4.84 million

The daily report published by Brazil’s Ministry of Health reports 4,847,092 confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus on Thursday (Oct. 1)

Of these, three percent of cases led to death (144,680), 10.1 percent of patients are receiving treatment (489,640), and 86.9 percent of Brazilians who contracted COVID-19 have recovered (4,212,772).

In 24 hours, 728 deaths were notified, along with 36,157 new confirmed cases.

Health authorities also investigate whether 2,440 deaths were caused by the virus.

São Paulo

Shortly after seven months since the first case of COVID-19 was confirmed in Brazil, the case tally in São Paulo state is close to a million. The state has reported 991,725 confirmed cases, 6,097 of which registered in the last 24 hours. Fatal cases add up to 35,804, 182 of them from Wednesday to Thursday.

Of the total number of cases diagnosed, 856,453  have recovered from the disease, 108, 508 of whom after hospitalization.

There are 9,086 people hospitalized across the state with a suspected or confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus, 3,919 in a serious state. The bed occupancy rate in intensive care units stands at 44 percent in the state and 42.7 percent in the Great São Paulo area. New hospitalizations have been on the wane for ten weeks and the occupancy rate is the lowest since the beginning of the pandemic.
