COVID-19: Brazil has reported 117,000 deaths, 3.7 mi cases
Brazil reached 117,666 deaths and 3,717,156 on Wednesday, after the new deaths (1,086) and confirmed cases (47,161) reported in the 24 hours prior were added to the statistics. The figures were released by the Health Ministry during an online interview presenting the weekly epidemiological report.
There are also 2,889 deaths under investigation by the teams at the state health secretariats, and 690,642 people are being monitored. A total of 2,908,848 have recovered from the disease.
COVID-19 across the states
The states with the highest death toll are São Paulo (29,194), Rio de Janeiro (15,700), Ceará (8,351), Pernambuco (7,460), and Pará (6,097). Those with the lowest number of fatal cases thus far are Roraima (582), Acre (607), Tocantins (621), Amapá (647), and Mato Grosso do Sul (783).
