COVID-19: Brazil has 115,300 deaths, 3.62 mi cases

The number of deaths linked to the pandemic of the novel coronavirus reached 115,309 after including the 565 notifications from Sunday to Monday sent through by the state health secretariats. The figures come from the daily report by the Health Ministry, released Monday (Aug. 24).

The case tally has reached 3,622,861. In 24 hours, 17,078 new cases were added to the statistics. The update also includes 728,483 people being monitored and 2,788,709 recovered.

The lethality rate (number of deaths divided by the number of cases) stood at 3.2 percent. Mortality (deaths for every 100 thousand people) came to 54.7. The incidence of COVID-19 cases for 100 thousand people is 1,724.

States

The states with the highest amount of deaths were São Paulo (28,505), Rio de Janeiro (15,392), Ceará (8,292), Pernambuco (7,399), and Pará (6,062). With the least deaths are Tocantins (593), Roraima (579), Acre (604), Amapá (637), and Mato Grosso do Sul (749).
