Last passengers aboard ship isolated in Recife removed

The 105 US nationals detained on ship Silver Shadow due to coronavirus were released and allowed to return to the US on Sunday (Mar. 22). They were the last passengers to leave the vessel at the Port of Recife, in Pernambuco state, carrying 609 people on board, 318 of them passengers and 291 crew members.

Only the crew will remain in observation on board, state authorities reported. The quarantine was imposed after a passenger tested positive for COVID-19. Brazilian, Uruguayan, Mexican, and Canadian passengers were taken off board on Saturday (21).

All prevention measures were adopted so that passengers were ushered to their return flights without compromising the safety of locals, the authorities stated.
